Background:
Our Client has an opportunity of supporting and maintaining the information technology (IT) and service support structure without customer. Within that, Enterprise Operations (EO) is responsible for the support server, storage and backup infrastructures consisting of the messaging system which supports approximately 22, 000 mailboxes, and the authentication and monitoring systems and mobile enterprise offerings serving its 12, 000 employees. With the enterprise messaging infrastructure being upgraded to a newer release, the demands on the Messaging Team require additional engineering support for technology improvement, ongoing operations and maintenance activities to maintain top-level service.

Scope:
One engineer will serve part-time, approximately 25 hours per week for an estimated six months, to assist EO with system administration activities relating to the evolving Messaging System. This includes, but is not limited to, supporting the spam filtering and e-mail routing services, supporting capacity planning, providing performance and trending analyses, advanced troubleshooting and assisting with new technology integration. The planned period of performance for this task is six months from award funded incrementally. Some work may be performed off-site at the discretion of the Contracting Officer Representative (COR).

Candidate Capability Requirements/Experience:

The offerers response should identify how the candidate meets the below requirements.

The Messaging Engineer will require at least five years of hands-on experience with the list of messaging technologies below in an enterprise environment exceeding an average of one million messages daily. The Offeror will provide resumes of proposed staff demonstrating proven previous experience, ability, or understanding of/with the following:

Experience/Ability with the following within the last six months in an enterprise environment:

SonicWall Spam Filtering solution 7.x
Sendmail Sentrion 4.x
Sendmail Sentrion 3.x
RedHat Linux 4.x
RedHat Linux 5.x
Monitoring Sendmail systems

Understanding of/with:

Windows 2008
Connecting Sendmail systems with a Microsoft Exchange 2007 environment

Other:

8+ years of experience in messaging environments

Description of Work:
The Messaging Engineer will work directly with the Enterprise Operations (EO) Enterprise Messaging Systems (EMS) Branch performing the following duties:
Provide technical expertise to upgrading to a Sendmail Sentrion 4.x system
Provide operational support to spam filtering and e-mail routing systems
Write technical documentation supporting the upgrade and operations
Configuration and management of the e-mail routing system
Advanced troubleshooting, trending analyses, capacity planning and technical support
Provide customer support
Effective communication, both orally and in writing, with senior staff, information systems professionals and the non-technical user community
