My client is looking for a Unix Technician for a 6/12 month contract based in Newcastle. This Unix Technician must have experience in Unix (solaris) (IBM AIX), Scripting, Ability to work in a disciplined environment under pressure to meet challenging deadlines and be eligible for Security clearance.
Description
Working as part of a team of Unix trained technicians, the role involves the build and commission of various technical environments using pre-defined build instructions provided by a third party.
Essential Skills
Unix (solaris) (IBM AIX), Scripting, Ability to work in a disciplined environment under pressure to meet challenging deadlines. Strong inter-personal skills.
Desirable Skills
Websphere, Sun One Directory (LDAP), SQL, Informatica, MQ WorkFlow, Filenet P8 Content Manager, IBM Business Process Monitor, Business Objects, Perl, SSL Configuration and Certificate handling
Day to Day Responsibilities
Building Live service as required;
Building Production and technical test services as required;
Ensuring all build documentation is up to date under change control and is baselined with Configuration Management;
Liaising with 3rd Development Architects to resolve 'discrepancies in build issues';
Investigating issues with Infrastructure for all services;
Assisting with plans and running orders to document all activities;
Identifying and rectifying build/deployment problems. Out-of-Hours working will be regularly required.
Project Overview
This team for the CMEC and Pensions and WAG programmes for DWP are also involved in various AMS activities including Service Support, Incident Management, Problem Management, the build of development and live environments and Release Management often involving out-of-hours work. Additional Service Support staff are required in a busy and high profile area to ensure that the team can support the expanding CMEC Programme and implementation during all test phases and post go-live activities.
