Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Project Manager

Background: Team Technology's client is interested in contracting an individual to fill the role of ERP Project Manager in support of its enterprise resource planning program

  • The ERP Program is currently underway to optimize and subsequently apply automation to the business processes that comprise the functional areas of core financials, procurement, and project/grant cost accounting
  • The resulting solution will be integrated with the existing human resource management and budgeting & performance management solutions to produce an overall ERP solution for the entire organization

Role Summary : The position of ERP Project Manager is required for the day-to-day management of the various project teams and their activities

  • Major activities for this role include project planning and scheduling, reporting, risk an issues management and providing leadership and guidance to the other project tam leaders on the program
  • This position acts as the project management office for the ERP program by setting and enforcing project management standards, maintaining artifacts and managing the programs SharePoint site
  • The role will report to the ERP Program Director

Essential Skills and Duties:

  • Manage - Exercise overall day-to-day control of the City's project leaders and the resources of the program, balancing the needs for program success with the skills and capabilities of the staff;
  • Mediate - Interact regularly and comfortably across multiple city departments and from the individual to the ERP Management Team level in order to negotiate solutions that foster strong relationships and continued successful program for the program
  • Plan - Be responsible for the development of an effective planning process, for the creation of an integrated project schedule that encompasses all aspects for the ERP Program and for the actual execution in conformance to plans and the continuing update and adjustment of plans and execution to fit changing circumstances
  • Project Change Management: Implement and lead an effective project change management process that pro-actively identifies project changes and incorporates an appropriate impact analysis and approval for such changes across the ERP program team; Financial Management
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining a monthly financial management process that incorporates actual financial performance to forecasted performance and justifies all variances; accurately forecasts expenditures in alignment with the project budget and supports the budgeting process throughout the project lifecycle; follows the City's financial processes and policies;
  • Manage Risk - Actively directs the development and maintenance of plans, practices and assignments to identify, quantify and contain the occurrence and potential impact of risks and risk events on the execution of a program and its likelihood of success;
  • Decide - Owns and is responsible for making timely, effective decision at the project level and communicating those decisions both up and down the program structure, while approaching needed decisions in a logical and thoughtful manner and weighing conflicting information;
  • Lead/Motivate- Leadership skills including the ability to motivate, inspire, counsel and facilitate individuals and teams to take responsibility and accountability for the goals and needed outcomes is essential
  • Communicate - Interpersonal and written communications abilities are critical to ensure that information about the program is timely, accurate, well-validated and reaches those who require it; prepare and deliver regularly scheduled program status reports and periodic and special reports and analyses as needed to the Program Director and the ERP Management Team;
  • Document - Ensure that accurate, timely and complete program documentation is maintained.

Required Experience:

  • ERP financial system implementation experience, preferably with either the Tyler or Lawson Software solutions.
  • Significant experience running multi-year projects with multiple projects rolling up to a single large program
  • Significant experience in maintaining project schedules, documentation, communications, and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated experience running a PMO is a plus
  • An understanding of a city's financial processes including the supporting financial and procurement systems necessary to deliver services
  • Previous procurement and or financial background in an entity of over 2,000 employees

Education:

  • PMP certification is a plus, comparable knowledge and experience may be considered in lieu of a PMP certification
  • Must have a four-year degree in a field applicable to this position, preferably in a financial, business, or technology discipline
  • Must be able to supply written proof of completion for all course work and/or degrees that are being used to satisfy the minimum training requirements;

Working Conditions:

  • Environmental conditions - office environment; exposure to computer screens Physical conditions - essential duties listed above may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time.


Required Software Specific Skills:

  • Experienced user of MS Project, Word, Excel Experience setting up and maintaining project oriented SharePoint site
