Job Summary:
The Sr. Database Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining all operational databases as well as troubleshooting, monitoring and addressing production support issues. Responsibilities include reviewing and releasing database scripts to the production environment, monitoring the ticketing system to address all database and SSRS report related requests, and providing design and support guidance to the IT development team as well as to enterprise reporting users. The candidate is often required to provide support after hours and weekends. The Sr. DBA will manage and work closely with the Remote and Offshore DBAs to coordinate operational support and be the primary contact for all database environment related questions.

Specific responsibilities:
Manage, monitor and maintain all operational databases in enterprise.
Monitor server and database performance and troubleshoot production support issues.
Develop and deploy SSRS reports from development/UAT to production environment.
Design advanced maintenance plans for databases using T-SQL scripts.NET code and built in functionalities within SQL Management Studio.
Deployment and administration of SSIS packages.
T-SQL coding and troubleshooting query performance issues.
Installation, configuration and administration of SQL Server 2005 and 2008 systems.
Maintenance of database Servers by monitoring the health, fragmentation, disk space and agent jobs.
Enforce company best practices and standards for the Reporting Services farm and the database environment.
Demonstrated ability to assist with on-going development of database change control and versioning procedures and work with the development team to migrate database changes into test and production environments.
Demonstrated ability to manage Transaction log replication and other high availability set up such as Mirroring and Log Shipping.
Strong knowledge in relational database concepts.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging SQL tools and technologies;
Responsible for building and maintaining positive working relationships with team members, internal customers, and external vendors.
Develop and/or maintain advanced backup and recovery processes, build alerts and notifications using native and Quest LiteSpeed tools.
Ability to conduct research into database issues, standards, and products as required.
Establish and provide an efficient management reporting procedures.
Manage remote and distributed staff of DBAs including offshore resources.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience in lieu.
Minimum of eight years work experience with SQL R2 and T-SQL development.
Proficiency in database administration, performance analysis, monitoring, optimization and maintenance.
Must have a strong customer service orientation.
Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, resolve problems, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner.
Recent Microsoft certification(s) a plus.
Experience with third party tools such as Red Gate toolkit, Quest Spotlight for performance monitoring, Quest LiteSpeed for database compression, built in SQL and Windows performance utilities a plus.
SSIS design expertise a plus.
Knowledge in SAN, RAID, VM based server administration, BizTalk database maintenance, DB encryption desired but not mandatory.
