My client in the Utilities Sector is looking to recruit a Verification and Improvement Engineer for an 8 month contract with its Safety Quality and Standards department based in Longbridge, Warwick.

You would be responsible for the following:

  • Undertake competent V&I audits and assessments in accordance with agreed plans
  • Identify risks to the successful delivery of projects and ensure they are clearly communicated and adequate remedial measures are agreed and implemented
  • Ensure preventive and corrective actions are completed to an adequate standard and in good time by the responsible manager or contractor
  • Provide adequate and accurate performance information and reports to support the processes of analysis, decision making, work load planning and risk assessment
  • Maintain suitable networks and contacts to support the identification of opportunities for learning and knowledge sharing
  • Be an ambassador for continual improvement, innovation and knowledge sharing through effective communication and feedback.

You should be able to demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

  • Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Suitable H,S&E qualifications
  • Relevant auditor qualifications or training
  • Desirable: Full Membership status of an appropriate professional body (eg ICE, CIWEM, I Mech E). IRCA Lead Auditors qualification, NEBOSH Construction Certificate or higher. AIEMA or better.
  • Experience of supply chain management (with emphasis on H&S and environmental standards and quality management).
  • Strong relationship management skills and experience in working across all levels of the supply chain.
  • A good understanding of Contract Law and Construction Contract terms.
  • A sound understanding of the design and construction processes involved in the water industry
  • Good understanding of quality management systems
  • Knowledge of the regulatory regime and accounting practices relevant to water industry capital investment.
  • Understanding of the principles of risk and project management.
  • A high level of analytical and planning skills
  • Competence in the use of spreadsheets to analyse data and present outcomes pictorially
  • A sound understanding of the processes involved in water services utility
  • Experience of undertaking some form of auditing
