Senior Mining Engineer - Project - 2yr Fixed Term Contract

The operation is an underground operation, mining copper ore at a rate of 1.2 million tonnes per annum. The mining operation is based on extraction of high grade copper ore, using medium sized open stopes.

The Company is about to begin an exciting multi-million dollar shaft extension project which will significantly increase LOM as well as lowering mining costs. We are active in exploration of the existing mine and surrounding tenements in order to expand this business and any other acquisitions that may be acquired in the future.

We are currently recruiting a Senior Mining Engineer to interface between underground mining operations and the Project Management team.

Accountabilities include:

  • Managing all aspects of contractor activity to deliver project objectives to time and budget
  • Accurate daily, weekly, monthly project reporting
  • Review of drawings from the Contractors Design Office
  • Building relationships with all personnel including mines planners, mine schedulers, supervisors and management to ensure achievement of objectives
  • Assist in mine design within project battery limits
  • Perform thorough incident investigations as required
  • Promote a safe work culture through thorough project planning and execution
  • Position is 2IC to Project Manager.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Mining Engineering
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate at an exceptional standard
  • Demonstrate knowledge of NSW Mining legislation
  • Must have minimum 3 years previous experience in an underground metalliferous environment
  • Exposure to Microsoft Project 2003 or other project management software
  • Demonstrated effective report writing capability
  • Previous Shaft & Off Shaft experience will be considered an advantage
  • Expertise in AutoCAD Surpac' considered an advantage
