My large public sector client is currently seeking an Environmental Health Officer for a 3 month contract. They will also consider a part time position on a 6 month contract. They are looking for a fully qualified Environment Health Officer with recent experience in food safety and health and safety enforcement. This is an urgent requirement and looking to have someone in place by the 10th of October. The position is based in Forfar but will work through the Angus Area.

Job Responsibilities:
Enforcement of Food Safety and Health and Safety Legislation including inspection of businesses and investigation of complaints
Carry out duties in terms of the Food Safety and the Health and Safety at Work legislation to include programmed inspections and re-inspections of commercial premises, food businesses, vehicles and stalls, work processes and activities and where necessary advise business owners of measures required in compliance with food safety and hygiene and health and safety of persons at work.
Investigate and report on incidents of work place accidents and communicable diseases including food poisoning.
Carry out inspection and monitoring of food to ascertain quality and fitness for human consumption, export etc. and as necessary obtain samples of food for analysis.
Investigate complaints, primarily from the public, as regards food, food businesses and health and safety at work
Prepare draft reports and precognitions as required in connection with the above duties.
Prepare and deliver as necessary talks on the work of the Food & Safety Unit and specifically in relation to the Environmental Health Section's commitment to food safety and the implementation HACCP systems.
Carry out special surveys, projects and research, as directed.
Assist as necessary in the preparation of statistics and returns for Central Authority or other bodies or agencies.
Keep abreast with all relevant environmental health legislation.
Carry out such duties as may be determined by the Head of Economic Development and Environmental & Consumer Protection and/or Senior Service Manager.

Essential:
Should hold a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle for use at work.
Graduate or other equivalent qualification for EHODiploma of REHIS or equivalent
