Description
A leading investment bank is looking for a financial accountant to sit in their Equities Product Control team.
The team is responsible for accurate and timely reporting of Global Equities P&L and balance sheet attributable to UK based entities and supplementary disclosures to both finance management and the equities executive. It has become a key partner, delivering a range of information, analysis and enhanced business processes to a demanding customer base.
This role will have exposure to an integration project which will have a strong focus on the Equities Business over the next 12-18 months. The holder of this role would be highly proactive in understanding the impact of any system and reporting changes on the Equities Business to ensure that controls surrounding the reporting process remain robust.
Specific responsibilities will include:
*Support the production and control of all Statutory financial & supplemental data for the Equities Business Unit in accordance with IFRS, as required for completion of the Group's Financial Statements or periodic statutory reporting
*Preparation of the monthly P&L including an explanation of movements by driver
*Month end Balance sheet substantiation and control including an explanation of balance sheet movements by driver
*Quarterly reporting which is based on the monthly reporting requirements plus additional supplementary disclosures required to satisfy external reporting requirements.
*Development of procedures and controls to ensure monthly Balance Sheet reporting is consistent with Group policy
*Close liaison with the business, Central Statutory Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, Operations, Risk and other Finance teams to ensure the timely and efficient resolution of queries
*Maintenance and development of the control environment
*Close liaison with the Equities Change team to ensure that the impact of any Integration activities is fully understood and evaluated by the BUC function.
*Project work covering controls enhancement, efficiency initiatives and any integration involvement.
*Contribute towards an effective financial control environment
Essential Experience:
*The successful candidate must have a professional accountancy qualification with a high degree of understanding relating to IFRS
*A good understanding of the balance sheet control function at an investment bank, gained through working in either product control or financial control or a related finance function.
*Prior experience in banking or a financial markets environment
*Good level of systems literacy including Microsoft Excel and Access to a high level.
