Description of Position
Our client in Richmond, VA has reopened the search for an Oracle Database Administrator (contractor) to support and provide knowledge transfer to client’s junior DBA. Client’s junior DBA will be responsible for a multi-location implementation, maintenance, administration, and coordination of all Oracle database systems relating to a new Student Information System implementation. The contractor will be responsible for mentoring and assisting the new DBA in his/her duties which will include but are not limited to:. Plan, coordinate, and accomplish division-wide Oracle systems implementation projects.. Research and coordinate the installation and testing of Servers and software; prepare, maintain and manage the test planning and implementation of modifications and manage the test database Servers and software.. Review database operations within individual locations and departments and plan for upgrades/configuration changes.. Plan and manage division-wide database systems projects by prioritizing projects, monitoring progress, resolving issues, analyzing situations and implementing solutions.. Provide hands-on leadership in the configuration and management of key database systems.. Review, plan, and provide hands-on leadership in the management of all Oracle database systems in the division.. Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

Required Skills
* Demonstrated, hands on work experience with Windows Servers 2008 R2 and Oracle database systems.. Experience in implementation of integrated personal, financial, work order tracking and human resources/payroll systems preferred, including installation, configuring and maintenance of Oracle database.. Must be able to write system documentation, system specifications and requirements, project plans, presentations, correspondence, studies, reports, and training materials to facilitate knowledge transfer.. 2+ years team lead experience monitoring work objectiveness/effectiveness, and realignment of work as needed.

Desired Skills
* Experience working with Student Information Systems.. Knowledge or experience with IBM I-series helpful.

Non-Technical Skills
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers served.. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or a related field. Candidate must be a U.S. citizen or Green card holder.
