CAD TECHNICIAN (IMPACT)
Fixed term contract: 6 months
Location: Deeside (Near Chester)

Salary: £22,000 - £24,000 basic salary

My client is one of the largest packaging manufacturers of folding cartons, and a market leader in Europe. They are well respected in the market for packaging for efficiency, reliability - and also creativity. The production network counts more than 5,000 employees and offers all available state of the art technologies in pre-print, printing and finishing.

The job ..
The purpose of the job is to provide carton design and CAD drawings for cut and crease tooling manufacture and to supply printing coater plates to the print process on time and correct to profile.

Other responsibilities include;
provide sheet sizes and C/C tooling costs to the estimating dept, maintain approved CAD sample and CAD document archives and retrieval for reference, provide proposals to R&D Dept with modifications to designs to improve C/C efficiencies, provide information to Internal Sales to assist with the creation of work tickets and to the Origination Dept so that artwork can be produced, ensure the purchasing, correct manufacture and supply of cut & crease tooling, ensure an orderly and easily accessible file is created of all CAD design layouts (successful and none successful, provide lay-sheets and coater plates to the print dept, organise the CAD environment.

We are looking for someone who can recognise where it is possible to make economies or improve efficiencies, Ability to spot potential problems and make suggestions as to how they can be improved or eliminated, Demonstrate expertise in accurately tracking projects and ensuring they are delivered in a timely manner, Show evidence of flexibility and ability to organise and prioritise work to meet targets and ensure successful completion and delivery of tasks, Needs to check and re-check work for mistakes before releasing electronic files, Demonstrate ability to recognise the importance of working to goals and meeting targets, Show evidence of written and oral communication skills with reference to dealing with people at different levels of the business, Ability to work with little supervision using own initiative within parameters of the role.

The ideal candidate will have intermediate die-making experience within a manufacturing environment preferably in the packaging industry (minimum). They will have intermediate level (minimum) of Arden Software Impact CAD desirable, GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics. Intermediate computer Literacy (Microsoft packages: Excel, Word, Outlook, BaaN) is also expected.
