Compliance Officer - City - £500 per day

We are currently seeking a Compliance Officer with strong experience working in a retail client facing business - ideally with experience of CFDs, Financial Spread Bets and FX.

This will be an initial 6 week contract with potential for extension - Initially you will be required to specifically document client on-boarding and checking procedures, plus creating a compliance manual for a new MTF project.

The ideal candidate will have experience from a retail client facing business - ideally with experience of CFDs, Financial Spread Bets and FX.

You will responsible for the compliance aspects of building and subsequently operating the NewCo which includes amongst others:
* Acting as Compliance Officer (CF10), Client Money Officer (CF10a) and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (CF11.)
* Ensuring the Firm complies with FSA Rules in respect of being an authorised person and an MTF.
* Ensuring that the Firm complies with regulatory requirements placed upon it by all the appropriate authorities/acts, through the effective provision of policy guidelines, monitoring programs, compliance reviews and associated management reporting.
* Advising Front Office staff.
* Supervising the delivery and implementation of compliance procedures from the out-sourced compliance functions.
* Advising on regulatory issues in the development of business strategy.
* Controlling the development of all compliance procedures and policy.
* Ensuring the project Steering Committee and subsequently the Board is properly informed on the performance and of the compliance function.
* Ensuring all notifications are made to FSA and any other relevant regulatory authority.
* Leading monthly Compliance meetings with internal compliance, HR, Surveillance and market integrity officers.

Skills required;
* Must have comprehensive compliance experience of a broking environment, specifically dealing with retail clients.
* Good knowledge in EU financial market regulation and minimum, solid compliance experience in a financial institution, strong understanding of FSA regulation is essential.
* Good knowledge of the CFD, Financial Spread Betting and Margined FX market mechanisms and technical environment.
* Experience in dealing with regulators.
* Excellent problem solving, written and verbal communication skills.
* Strong communication skills and an assertive manner are imperative as is a proactive "hands-on" approach.
* Qualified lawyer or accountant with prior experience in a legal and regulation and/or compliance department.
