Description
The role of the web Front End developer is to produce, maintain and modify web Front End for all eCommerce applications using various technologies. This person is solely responsible for the technical execution of design assets including final HTML/CSS templates and project work files.This individual will be the technical subject matter expert for all Front End components of eCommerce applications, and will work directly with the business team to mock-up, design and implement Front End application components. They will also have a large amount of interactions with the technical development team, business analysts and Back End developers. The role requires proven experience with designing, implementing and maintaining eCommerce Front End components preferably for JSP based applications.
Although this is more a production than a design role, a strong visual eye and thorough understanding of how typography, layout, color impact design is necessary. It is required that this individual is someone with fresh ideas, a positive attitude, strong skill set, and the ability to shift gears rapidly. Successful candidates will be able to provide accurate timing estimates for project work.
Essential Functions
Produce HTML/CSS page templates from master source documents for integrating into retail website
Design and develop all Front End application components for eCommerce applications
Work with the design and production teams to support day-to-day operations of eCommerce retail website
Business Analysts and System Analysts to create Front End mock-ups
Work with technical support team on small enhancements
Work with technical development team on projects
Provide accessibility and usability guidelines in all application development
Work with internal and external vendor teams on all support/enhancement/project related activities
Develop cross-browser and cross-platform compatible Front End code.
Position Requirements
Required Education, Experience and Skills§ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Marketing, Interactive Design or Graphic Design.
§ 4+ years experience as Front End Developer or Web Designer at an retail organization contributing to the creative execution of large scale web and software application user-interface design projects including E-commerce, content portals, kiosks, Intranet/extranets, e-mail marketing, online advertising and web-based application design.
§ Ability to solve complex design problems and achieve the highest quality design while pushing the boundaries of rich media online applications
§ Detailed functional understanding of eCommerce application, interfaces and business processes. 3+ years experience preferably in the retail and consumer products industry.
§ Ability to work quickly but with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
§ Strong communications and organizational skills with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced production deadline-driven environment.
§ Process-oriented with ability to work with different UI materials and rapid prototyping
§ Solid understanding of W3C, 508 Compliance and accessibility guidelines
§ The position requires knowledge of and hands-on experience with eCommerce applications, concepts, processes, technology and tools, including :
o eCommerce framework tools like Blue Martini; JSP experience required
o HTML, XHTML, HTML5, CSS skills, Web graphic production
o Adobe CS Production suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks)
o Flash Actionscript
o Front End coding tools like Javascript, jQuery, JSON, AJAX
o Developing cross-browser, cross-platform compatible Front End solutions (IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari)
o Proficient in most MSOffice applications as well as both Windows and Mac operating systems o Extensive experience with Front End debugging tools like FireBug, etc.
o Knowledge of Operating Systems like Solaris, Linux, AIX, Windows, etc.
o Source control and version management tools like CVS
o Performance/availability monitoring tools/services like Gomez, Keynote etc. a plus
