Position Description:
- The Software Developer position is responsible for high-volume web application development and maintenance, both Front End and Back End systems.
- The right candidate will have a demonstrable track record of developing high quality, innovative applications, products and services for a consumer-oriented company. This includes creating web applications and other processes that produce, manage and distribute content.
- Serves as group mentor and leader on technical efforts, and requires proven knowledge of web standards and technologies using industry best practices to build solutions for our customers.
- Leads task identification, work effort estimates, and work schedules for development and maintenance activities.
- Works as project team member to develop web applications, as well as syndication feeds, and development and support of mobile applications and platforms.
Software development tasks include: coding, testing, debugging, documenting, peer-reviewing, deploying, monitoring, and support.
All tasks are performed in accordance with industry best practices and specific internal procedures and standards. Provides operational support during working hours, acting as the first tier for any urgent application needs or emergencies. This includes infrequent over time and off hours support.
Works with a team of developers and project managers. Assignments are executed both independently and paired with other developers, and all assignments require close communication with management and clients. Must pay strict attention to detail and deadlines, performing all tasks in accordance with industry standards and internal regulations.
Spends time learning new skills and staying ahead of industry trends and innovations. Able to focus on mundane functions of operational support as well as the rigors of high demand projects
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Computer Science. At least 5 years of previous experience in Web Development is required
- Must have expert knowledge of all user-facing web standards and platforms, including Drupal, HTML/XHTML, DHTML, cross-browser CSS, Javascript, AJAX, and mobile web.
- Well-versed in web development with strong knowledge in Server Side web programming languages such as Java, Servlets/JSP, Perl, PHP, C# and/or ASP.
- Strong Drupal experience.
- Strong UNIX knowledge including Shell Scripting, reg ex, basic sys admin knowledge, vi editor. Fluency in JavaScript development and use of JQuery, Prototype, MooTools, Ext, YUI and Dojo.
- Knowledge of XML and XSLT transformation Relational database skills (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, etc.).
- Experience with using and developing web services (REST, SOAP).
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Experienced working with an interdisciplinary team.
- Must demonstrate strong teamwork and collaborative skills
Desired Qualifications:
- Large-scale system software development experience
- Rich Internet Application (RIA) development including HTML 5, Flash manipulation experience - AS3, Flash embedding, manipulation
- Experience with developing and interfacing to Social Media platforms such as Facebook, OpenSocial, and Blog development.
- Mashup development experience such as working with Google Maps
- Experience developing mobile device applications on iPad, iPhone, Android, and Blackberry
