Software Engineer - Perl
Responsible for building, deploying, and maintaining Back End application systems and support tools. This includes configuring, coding, developing, and documenting software specifications throughout the project life cycle.

Responsibilities

Operational Management
Work with application development staff to coordinate the creation and management of data queries.
Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
Run and monitor performance tests on new and existing software for the purposes of correcting mistakes, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
Administer diagnostic analysis of test results and deliver solutions to critical areas.
Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application development best practices.
Gather statistics and prepare and write reports on the status of the programming process for discussion with management and/or team members.
Determine, develop, and maintain user manuals and guidelines.
Write and/or delete programming script to enhance functionality and/or appearance of company Web site and Web applications as necessary.
Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades for optimal performance of company workstations.

Position Requirements

Formal Education & Certification
College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or software engineering, and minimum 4 years related work experience.
Certification in Development disciplines like Perl, Java, Ruby or other is preferred, but not required.
Experience with Microsoft technologies (.Net, IIS, MS SQL) is a plus.

Knowledge & Experience
Good understanding of the organizations goals and objectives.
Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Technically fluent in programming/scripting languages, including Java, Perl and/or other languages.
Competent and proficient understanding of Linux, virtualization and tasks automation.
Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies, including LAMP.
Hands-on software troubleshooting experience.
Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.

Work Conditions

On-call availability based on rotation each month.
Sitting for extended periods of time.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components.
Lifting and transporting of moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals.
Physically able to participate in training sessions, presentations, and meetings.
