We have an excellent 6+ month contract opportunity for a NetBackup administrator in the South Denver area. This is with a strong global client of ours right of off I-25. General Job Duties:
Perform data protection administration/operation tasks in a large, global NetBackup environment. Daily duties will include monitoring backups, troubleshoot failed backups, perform restores upon request, media management, and reporting. Additional tasks will include assisting in datacenter consolidation projects and data protection standardization deployments to global location. Some travel may be required but would be limited.
Required Experience/Skills:
5 years minimum experience with Symantec NetBackup 6.x and 7.x. in large enterprise environments. Fluency on Windows 2003, 2008, RHEL 5.x, and Solaris master/media Servers (scripting experience a plus). Strong experience and understanding on backup methods and NetBackup functionality for Oracle, MS SQL, and Exchange databases. Strong understanding and experience with NetBackup for VMWare, NetBackup for Hyper-V, NDMP, SLP, SSO, and NetBackup Vault (Reduplication disk a plus). Experience with NetBackup OpsCenter Analytics. Understanding of tape SAN configuration (SAN admin skills a plus). Strong experience on Quantum tape hardware and media encryption. General network understanding and skills including SSH, RDP, and general network troubleshooting techniques.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a NetBackup administrator in large IT environments. Candidates must be able to install and configure backup environments from the ground up and trouble shoot complex backup errors. Candidates must have experience installing and troubleshooting database, VMware, and NDMP backup errors. Candidates need to be capable of running implementation and consolidation projects remotely and work well with geographically distributed colleagues. Certified Symantec NetBackup Professionals a plus. Certified SAN or System administrators a plus.
Datacenter operations needs additional support to integrate newly acquired companies into the standard data protection environment to ensure the recoverability of the assets. The contractor will primarily be utilized to work with the IT staff from several organizations to assess the current data protection and if required, install data protection infrastructure at the remote location.
