MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER
This is an excellent opportunity to work for a reputable company in Derbyshire. The contract is for a minimum of 12 months.
You will be working withihn the Compressor Engineering Department, and required to work on a wide range of design activities across civil aerospace, energy and marine business sectors.
This role will be diverse and technically challenging, with opportunities to work on both IP and HP Compressor tasks, from sub-system conceptual investigations through to detail component definition. It will require excellent problem solving skills to deliver innovative, world-class solutions which balance the often conflicting requirements of the customer and supply chain. You will be expected to use your initiative and draw on expertise from other areas to solve complex technical problems. Design support will also be required for ongoing engine development programmes and in-service products, where arising issues often require resolution in challenging timescales.
This position will involve working with a number of global multi-disciplined teams and you will be required to integrate the activities of all interfacing SCUs to ensure the requirements of the Compressor sub-systems are met. As well as this, you will liaise closely with manufacturing centres (domestic and supply chain network) to ensure Compressor commodity design solutions are optimised against challenging product definition requirements.
EDUCATION
- You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering, supported by relevant industrial experience within the engineering skill set.
- You will have a good understanding of a variety of manufacturing techniques used within the industry.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Desirable Skills/Experience
A sound knowledge of the engineering definition processes and procedures is desirable.
Experience using Siemens NX, Teamcenter and PDM would be advantageous but training is available.
