This is an exciting opportunity to work with one of their key banking and finance clients. The Optical Network Specialist is primarily responsible for the delivery of DWDM projects from initial staging through to implementation.
Your role will include the following responsibilities:
Installation: Installing Metro DWDM systems for customers. This includes in-house staging and configuration, onsite installation (customer locations), labelling, fibre cabling, electrical cabling, racking of equipmentTesting & Commissioning:
Perform full end to end testing, troubleshooting and final commission of any DWDM systems, ranging from small systems right up to large ROADM based rings with up to 120 wavelengths. Knowledge of the following T&M techniques is necessary, OPM, OSA, OTDR, VFL, PMD, CD, BERT and Latency.Fault Resolution:
Assist with fault diagnosis and problem resolution on all supported DWDM systems. Duties will include providing technical assistance to maintenance engineers and training and mentoring of maintenance staff.Documentation: Develop technical as-built documentation for all DWDM projects.
System Design:
Pre-Sales related activities are also required, such as; Solution Design, pricing & quotations, system capacity planning and assisting sales and technical staff as required to assist with the normal functioning of sales and support.
You should have the following skills and experience:
- Layer 1 Optical experience
- Active WDM exposure
- Optical Product experience (preferably ADVA or Nortel)
- Metro DWDM
- Optical Amplifiers
- ADVA NM (preference)
- Metro DWDM
- Fibre handling skills
- Telco/Carrier Protocol Technology
- Enterprise Protocol Technology
- MS Windows experience
- Demonstrate good project coordination skills
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail
