Position Summary:

The Business Analyst is responsible for eliciting the business needs of the customer to help determine solutions to complex business problems.

The Business Analyst is responsible for requirements development and requirements management in accordance to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices. The Business Analyst will act as the liaison between the business units, technology teams and support teams. This particular role will focus on a Project for the Merchandising line of business.

The Business Analyst must have the ability to plan and execute strategic initiatives to take complex projects from vision to reality. The Business Analyst has in-depth knowledge of a line of business and/or is experienced in the industry best practices.

The Business Analyst will participate in the testing phase of the (SDLC) assisting in the development of test plans and test cases for UAT along with a potential to perform test execution for the project.

The Business Analyst for this position will work on a project in the Retail Merchandising line of business with a team of Business Analysts. Prior experience working on Retail/Merchandising related projects and/or on MDM or ERP projects would be beneficial.

Essential Job Functions:
Work with the line of business to elicit, analyze and document complex business requirements.
Lead the appropriate teams to elicit and manage business requirements.
Business Analysis core functions:
o Collaborate with other business analysts and project team members assigned to the project
o Lead, elicit, document and conduct analysis on requirements from elicitation meetings with the business
o Perform Meeting Management best practices (agendas, meeting minutes, parking lots, etc.)
o Create Business & Functional Requirements Documentation using the prescribed Kroger templates
o Assist with writing text and graphical Use Cases detailing business and system process flows/data flows
o Write detailed Functional Requirements
o Write detailed Non-Functional Requirements
o Validate Requirements as documented with business
o Manage requirements maintaining traceability and change control
Testing core functions:
o Collaborate with the Testing team on testing planning and test case development
o Collaborate with the Testing team leading UAT with the business
o Collaborate with the Testing team on test results and root cause analysis
Provide feedback to the Project Manager on assumptions, issues and risks providing mitigation solutions as needed.
Communicate timely status on work to the Project Manager
Conduct knowledge transfer to the support teams during the implementation phase
Assist in troubleshooting post implementation issues for large/complex projects

Lead Testing core functions:
o Develop and maintain test plan and test cases based on functional and non-functional requirements
o Execute test cases; document, report and analyze test results
o Work with development teams on test results, conduct root cause analysis

Minimum Position Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in IS or related equivalent work experience in an Information Systems position or comparable business unit experience.
5 or more years experience in business analysis.
Excellent written, verbal and listening communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate information to all levels within the organization.

Desired Previous Job Experience
Prior experience as Senior Analyst or comparable experience.
BA Certification, Six Sigma or IIBA CCBA or CBAP Certification a plus
Retail/Merchandising project experience a plus
MDM and/or ERP project experience a plus
