Senior Risk Analysts is required to join HM Revenue & Customs in either Leeds, Manchester, or Birmingham on a 2-year Fixed Term Appointment with the possibility of extension or conversion to permanent appointments subject to business need. HMRC Collect over £423 billion each year in tax, duty and National Insurance contributions, from more than 50 million customers and with over 80,000 employees we are one of the UK's biggest organisations. The Risk & Intelligence Service Operations is responsible for the selection of the highest risk interventions which are conducted by specialist teams in the Enforcement and Compliance Group. It is organised into four functional groups: Planning, Projects & Profiles, Production and Transactions. We require an experienced Risk Analyst to be responsible to drive and develop innovative ways of profiling and identifying risk within our four Profiling Centres in order to:

•Supply high quality cases to our customers based on the greatest level of risk.
•Behaviourally segment Taxpayers to allow for the appropriate tactical responses
•Identify criminal attacks on HMRC systems

You will be expected to inform and influence the strategic direction of HMRC by using your external knowledge and business insight to identify opportunities for maximising yield and closing the tax gap; working across profiling, production, and other analytical teams.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a newly created risk and intelligence function. We are looking for exceptional candidates who can demonstrate:

•Expert levels in the fields of risk and data analysis using a variety of commercially available analytical IT tools including SAS.
•Extensive hands on experience of tackling credit / risk / fraud and / or behavioural data analytics in a large Financial Service/ Tele-comms/ retail or similar organisation.
•Ability to effectively engage with teams, stakeholders and senior partners.
•Extensive experience of statistical / mathematical programming allied to a creative flair for problem solving and thinking outside the box to analyse large, complex and potentially conflicting data sets and information feeds from various sources in order to create behavioural, risk profile and other analytical products.
•Proven track record in strategic decision making
•Highly numerate with scientific degree or equivalent plus postgraduate degree and / or professional qualifications.
