Description

This role is responsible for providing expert services in relation to implementing, managing, operating and supporting high performance technology infrastructure, development, design and operations for the business. Knowledge and Experience Required; 

  • Evaluate and assist in the design and implementation of WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Portal
  • Provide input into the planning of future infrastructure requirements
  • Conduct all aspects of capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning of specific infrastructure components
  • Liaise with third parties/external support vendors for infrastructure maintenance and upgrades
  • Provide specialised second and third-level support and technical assistance
  • Monitor issue resolution to ensure issues are resolved within a timely manner
  • Understand business continuity requirements, plan and undertake effective Disaster Recovery and testing  procedures
  • Work with the development team to deploy, configure and administer the applications. Undertake WebSphere problem determination and root cause analysis
  • Plan, review and critique proposed changes to ensure successful implementation of infrastructure changes
  • Partner and vendor management:
  • Provide high-level technical consultation to business/technology stakeholders to support relevant infrastructure partners and other business stakeholders
Knowledge and Experience:  
  • Several years relevant IT industry experience with at least three years in a highly technical role
  • Several years experience in a complex IT infrastructure environment
  • Mainframe experience would be highly regarded (Z series, Z O/S)
  • The ability to perform diagnostic analysis and tune the environment (both at the WebSphere Application Server layer and the WebSphere Portal Server layer)
  • Able to analyse runtime logs and dumps (heap/thread dumps, GC logs etc...)
  • Strong, clear communicator
  • Experience in complex clustered environments
  • Essential to have WebSphere knowledge in the Unix environments, experience in a Mainframe environment desirable
  • Exposure to application development in JAVA/J2EE
  • Advanced analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting and consultative skills
  • A firm understanding of a financial services operating environment and core applications and products desirable
