purpose of the job is :
To work as a member of a multi-agency team, implementing the YOT s business plan, local objectives, team plans and relevant national and local standards to prevent offending by children and young people.
The post holder is expected to carry out their duties and responsibilities in accordance with the County Councils Policies and Procedures and the Directorates Statement of Principles and Standards of Conduct.
To instil, promote and maintain working relationships with all levels of management, employees and service users (including other Directorates of the County Council and external agencies) which fully reflect the Directorates Standards of Conduct and Statement of Principles.
A core function of officers of the County Council is to Deliver and promote the positive benefits of equality and diversity in the way they carry out their duties and responsibilities.

Core Tasks
1.To manage an allocated workload and deliver a high quality service to children and young people and their families to prevent offending.
2.To complete assessments on all young people referred to the YOT, and in particular assess risk of harm to individuals and the public at risk of re-offending in order to target resources and identify effective interventions.
3.To act as appropriate adult in PACE interviews as required.
4.To supervise or manage pre sentence interventions including bail information, bail support and agreed procedures for young people remanded to Local Authority accommodation or Custody.
5.To provide YOT services to the Youth Court, attending other Courts as required.
6.To provide assessment reports to Courts (including oral information, expedited reports and PSRs) to national and other relevant standards and in accordance with agreed protocols.
7.To prepare, review and implement supervision/intervention plans setting clear objectives and a plan of work to achieve the aim of reducing offending.
8.To develop and deliver programmes based on principles of evidence based practice.
9.To supervise, manage and enforce all community sentences and post release supervision to national and local standards and procedures using a wide range of team and community resources and implement local procedures re Anti Social Behaviour Orders and Child Safety Orders.
10.To contribute to flexible and collaborative multi agency arrangements and service culture, ensuring continuity of priority cases during staff absence and variable workload pressures.
11.To take part in formal case management reviews, including child protection conferences and core groups, and other planning meetings as necessary.
12.To contribute to the monitoring, research and evaluation of youth justice services, completing returns promptly, in order to assess the effectiveness of services to reduce and prevent youth offending.
13.To work jointly with other agencies and voluntary organisations to deliver preventative interventions.
14.To make an active contribution to the Local Authority Crime and Disorder Reduction Strategy, reflecting local and county concerns in the delivery of services.
15.To participate in inspections by relevant authorities including the National Youth Justice Board.
16.To provide a duty system as required.
17.To participate in supervision within the line management structure and an agreed performance management and staff development process.
18.To actively promote equal opportunities in all aspects of the work with full regard to the policies and procedures of all the relevant agencies.
