Experis is recruiting for their client in Cincinnati, Ohio for a QA Load & Performance Engineer on a right-to-hire basis. Candidates for this role must be eligible and willing to be hired by our client following the contract.
Candidates not local to Cincinnati must be willing and able to come for an in-person interview after a successful phone screen.
Position Description:
The Performance Engineering team provides performance testing services to the client's J2EE infrastructure and applications development teams in the US in order to ensure server capacity and application performance. Currently supported systems include high-volume consumer transactional online banking systems. The Performance Engineer role on the team is primarily responsible for planning, constructing, executing and analysing performance tests on applications-under-test.
Individual Responsibilities include:
Create performance test plans.
Synthesize and execute load tests with LoadRunner.
Collect and analyze performance test data from LoadRunner, UNIX Shell Scripts and third party monitoring tools such as Wily Introscope.
Deploy, configure, tune and support dedicated performance test environments.
Enhance performance test capabilities by evaluating and developing tools ( ie stubs, monitoring, ).
Team Responsibilities include:
Validate that the base system/application architecture can support (reliable, available, performance) expected production load.
Validate that changes to the system/application do not negatively impact performance.
Validate that the system/application is resilient to external influences(delays, failovers, dependency outages, )
Compare performance test results to production to create a predictive model.
Compare performance test results to previous baselines to analyze trends.
Find, triage and fix pre-production performance issues.
Tune the system/application to improve performance.
Troubleshoot production performance issues.
Gather data to support hardware capacity projections.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
BS Computer Science degree or equivalent
Self-motivated and self-directed
Excellent writing and communication skills
Superior interpersonal skills, and must be able to work successfully in cross-disciplinary teams.
Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment, on multiple concurrent assignments.
Understanding of capacity planning and performance tuning concepts in a J2EE application environment.
Passion for tuning enterprise applications for reliability, availability and performance.
Technical Requirements:
At least 5 years hands on IT development or testing experience.
At least two years hands on current LoadRunner Scripting, testing and analysis experience with emphasis on J2EE applications.
At least two years hands on current WebSphere application deployment and performance tuning experience.
Familiarity with Excel VBA to efficiently analyze test results.
Familiarity with Wily Introscope to analyze and troubleshoot system performance.
Working knowledge of UNIX operating system, UNIX commands and UNIX tools such as vmstat, ps and Shell Scripting.
Working knowledge of Tibco Middleware
SIGNIFICANT STRENGTH OR EXPERIENCE IN ONE OR MORE TECHNICAL SKILLS MAY BE CONSIDERED IN LIEU OF OTHER SKILLS.
