An excellent opportunity has arisen working for a Major Financial Organisation of ours for a Configuration Analyst.

The Client is looking for someone who will be responsible for the following
Contribute to the provision, development and management of integrated fix on fail, development and test environments for key platforms and applications.
Provide a managed service to projects in terms of end-to-end environments: activities include the scheduling, booking, baselining, and refreshing of environments.
Perform application installation, configuration & maintenance tasks
Develop scripts & tools (including CMDB) to automate environment management tasks
Investigate and resolve environment & application issues (first-line support) and manage second-line support requests to PGDS and external vendors
Analyse requirements, design, implement and support the development and test environments according to GHO IT standard processes and procedures, to ensure customer requirements/expectations are met.
* Liaise with relevant GHO IT domains and PGDS to deliver environmental components according to timescales, scope, and/or provide technical support to meet service levels.
Work as a team with other environment and configuration specialists to provide controlled environments.
Provide technical advice and guidance to GHO IT domains, and customers as required, including training where necessary.
Document environmental deliverables/components according to standards as required, including the update of processes and procedures as necessary.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives including strategic planning and roadmaps, or improve service and cost effectiveness.
Achieve best practice for GHO IT to ensure environment and support deliverables/components are consistent with GHO IT strategy and address applicable risk/security considerations.
Ensure that all systems documentation is created/updated where appropriate following configuration standards.
* Report personal progress against the plans and resolve/escalate any issues, where appropriate.
Proactively work with the other environment analysts and testers to ensure the overall design/build minimises coding and testing complexity whilst still meeting the demands of the business.
Provide estimates for the production of IT deliverables, seeking guidance where appropriate.
Provide support, advice and guidance (where appropriate) during the business testing phase.

Configuration management:
Define, document and communicate the configuration process for a particular programme/project using a software configuration management plan.
Identify all configuration items for the programme/project and label using appropriate and agreed configuration management methods/tools.
Manage and control the movement of the configuration items against agreed baselines using deliverable breakdown structures, requirements catalogues, deliverables matrices, design specifications, configuration management tools and a software configuration management plan.
Create libraries or other storage areas to store configuration data.
Ensure appropriate security is established around the configuration data.
Produce management information regarding the status of configuration items as requested.
Monitor project issues for relevance to configuration data. Maintain the quality plan for IT deliverables, where appropriate.
Conduct configuration audits where required, rectifying any issues identified and proactively striving to improve efficiency of processes.
Perform functional and physical configuration audits.
Ability to manage and facilitate upgrades efficiently to ensure minimal disruption.
Liase with other configuration managers or relevant parties for consistency of approach across GHO IT.
* Programming skills preferred, with a support mindset - ready to respond to unplanned workload
* Awareness of project life cycles, systems development life cycles, or similar methodology
* Knowledge of IT infrastructures and architectures and or working knowledge of a particular aspect: standard desktops, E-business, networks, mid-range, Mainframe, or supplier contracts
* Good analytical skills and must have proven ability to analyse both technical/non-technical data, translate it and present practical solutions.
* Good knowledge of configuration management tools and techniques.
* Proven skills in recognising dependencies and planning activities
* Proven skills in dealing with suppliers
* Has a desire to deliver to the highest standard.
* Ability to produce creative solutions
* Ability to proactively work with limited supervision, seeking guidance where appropriate.
* Ability to balance conflicting demands in order to reach a solution that meets business requirements whilst being cost effective.
* Good stakeholder skills, is able to actively listen, communicate, influence, challenge and question customer, immediate peer group and above.

System skills - development/programming skills in:
* Risk ++; C++; MATLAB; Oracle; Java; VBA; SQL database interrogation; Linux/Unix Shell Scripting
