SOFTWARE ENGINEER
Provides technical engineering expertise and support for ThinApp or Wise Application Packaging. Experience with Install shield scripts, Visual Basic Scripting, and/or PowerShell will be required as part of the packaging responsibilities. Perform and analyze at all levels to include requirements gathering, test, installation, implementation, operation, maintenance, upgrades, and repair.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Demonstrates technical knowledge for supporting applications, devices and network components in a large business environment consisting of thousands of workstations.
* Demonstrates ability adapting to desktop architecture and end user computing technology concepts and trends.
* At least 4 years experience with packaging applications mainly using VMware Thinapp or Symantec Wise Package Studio.
* At least 6 years experience in an IT environment would be preferred.
* Must have advanced personal computer word processing, spreadsheet, database and Windows (XP, Vista, 7) skills.
* Requires sufficient analytical skills to assess problems or unusual situations and develop solutions.
* Good oral and written communication skills are a must.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* Expertise in ThinApp 4.6 or higher for application packaging.
* Expertise in Wise Package Studio 8 for MSI packaging of applications
* Experience with Conflict Manager and other tools in the Wise suite.
* Experience with Virtualization technologies used in support of application packaging is a plus
* Develop and maintains desktop operating system (Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7) images and applications.
* Ability to script using Wise Script or VBScript to facilitate automated installation and un-installation of packaged applications
* Integration of device drivers, standard and divisional applications into a desktop image
* Create unassisted installs for updating software, installing new software and install custom desktop configurations
* Planning and developing standards relating to desktop architecture projects, testing, and
development
* Develops detailed clear and concise documentation for application packages or operating system installations. This should include installation documents, engineering documents and deployment guides
* Answers end users' inquires as third level support. Diagnoses system hardware and software issues.
* Reviews, evaluates and implements requests from user departments
* Be "on-call" for all periods as assigned by manager.
* Meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
* Communication to end-users, management, and any Software packaging tracking system in use by the company.
* Carry out other such duties as may be assigned or requested.
* Research and evaluate new technologies and methodologies to ensure best possible procedures, systems, and equipment are being utilized
DELIVERABLES:
