Integrated Project Team Leader
Job Purpose:
To manage a focused, multi-discipline team of engineers in the development and delivery of new products for the Defence electronics market-place. Reporting to a senior Programme Manager with accountability through to the Engineering Director.
Main Accountabilities:
- To work with the Project manager to establish and maintain the way that the project will be managed and delivered including:
- Definition of manageable pieces of work through a work breakdown structure (WBS).
- Risk management approach.
- Communication flows within the business and with the Customer.
- To assist the Programme Manager with the orchestration of an executable plan which ensures delivery of the customer requirement. The plan should include:
- Clear project vision/purpose/top level deliverable.
- Integrated timeline.
- Definition of Customer deliverables.
- Integrated projected non-recurring costs.
- Determination of the product unit cost(s).
- Understanding of the project risks.
- Overall project finance indicators which include Estimate at Completion (EAC), Estimated Time to Completion (ETC), product unit cost.
- To establish, manage and maintain an integrated technical team to deliver the concept, design, development and productionisation of 1 or more complex bespoke electronic unit. This includes:
Identification of resource skill types and levels of resource required to achieve the plan
Acquire and secure the necessary resources to deliver the plan
Management of assigned resources day-to-day, including accountability for progress and for technical delivery
Personal attributes:
Must have:
- Degree qualification (or equivalent) in electronics with experience of the design and development of electronic products.
- Demonstrable leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and energise a directly reporting technical team.
- Experience in New Product Introduction and product development life cycle.
- A customer-focused attitude and the ability to interact with senior stakeholders.
- Adaptability and resilience with a positive attitude towards change.
Ideally would have:
- Sound knowledge and experience of UK MoD land military acquisition processes at component and systems level.
- Experience from within an electronic component and system development and production business.
- Experience in managing multi-discipline engineering teams including hardware, software and systems.
- Experience of dealing with prime contractors in the land arena eg Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, BAe Systems.
