Essential Local Goverment Experience Desirable Exposure to Social Care directorate within Public SECTOR Support the Senior Financial Manager in providing financial advice and financial policy development for the Service Directorate. Additionally, the role holder will support the management of the day to day operation of the team ensuring accurate and timely professional finance support to directorate across all levels, including budget monitoring, budget strategy and final accounts.

1. To support the provision of a quality financial management service to the Directorate including the preparation of budget strategy, annual budgets, budget monitoring and closure of accounts
2. Support the Senior Finance Manager in the provision of financial management information and advice as required to the Directorate including revenue and capital budget monitoring, budget options and service developments.
3. To support and participate in specific projects within the service as required by the Senior Finance Manager, supporting the financial implications of projects and assisting in the appraisal of options for delivery.
4. To advise the Service Managers on the allocation of resources within his/her responsibility.
5. Support the Senior Finance Manager in the review and advice on financial implications of new legislation and regulations relating to the services covered by the service directorate.
6. Support in the effective management and supervision of staffing within the team to deliver team objectives including, performance review, individual and team development
7. Keep abreast of developments in finance in general and best practice in particular and make recommendations to senior officers and the Senior Finance Manager so as to bring the Council to the forefront of best practice.
8. Support a commercial approach to decision making within Council guidelines and governance arrangements.
9. To work flexibly across the Council liaising with partners to deliver service outcomes, indicators and targets.
