Description

* Ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately and completely in accordance with IAS, legal, regulatory, supervisory, and Group policy requirements and specific industry codes of practice. Ensure transactions have been properly authorised in line with agreed policies and exceptions are reported.
* Preparation and delivery of accurate monthly accounts to strict deadlines, which will involve coordinating with other team members and various other teams in processing the necessary month end accounting models and subsequent entries.
* Production of monthly balance sheet reconciliations including intercompany balances in accordance with Group policy control framework and ensure any reconciling items are dealt with promptly and appropriately.
* To maintain close relationship and liaise with key customers such as Execs, Decision Support, Cost Centre Managers, Divisional and Group support providing timely information as required such as monthly management packs, cost centre reports, statutory packs or reserve trend commentaries.
* Preparation of detailed analysis reports for submission to management, including the Finance and Executive Board and external bodies, including tax and regulatory authorities. Production of ad-hoc reports and analysis as requested.
* Continuously develop, improve and document processes and accounting models to increase efficiency, effectiveness, accuracy, timeliness and quality as well as user friendliness.
* To ensure compliance to SOX requirements - ensured working files are EUDA compliant: prepared users guides, test plans as well as carried out testing.
* Liaison with internal and external auditors over accounts and providing further analysis, explanation and understanding where requested.
* SME support for business and other projects. Closely assist and help lead in the necessary testing and implementation of new systems and processes. A strong level of accounting for the specific legal entity and process awareness is needed to increase effectiveness of involvement.
* To develop self and direct reports in order to maximise personal contribution.
* Provide support and deputising for M1/M2 as required.
* Produce or contribute and support the Annual Statutory Accounts. Tag accounts in XME, within one month of statutory accounts sign-off.
* Managing the workload of a small team.
* Production or assistance with Group INS1 and FSA return and liaison with internal and external auditors over the return providing further analysis, explanation and understanding where requested.
* Production of IPT and VAT returns.
* Production of Actuarial Reconciliations.
Completion of the quarterly and annual returns for submission to external bodies such as ONS, ABI, FSA and MIB.
