General Job Duties:
- Primary focus will be on developing guidelines and procedures for supporting LAN/WANs, IP Telephony, network services, security services and application optimization technologies running on an IPSec/MPLS network.
- This role will ensure the day-to-day operational stability of data infrastructure including all moves/adds/changes to the Network Infrastructure.
- Participate as part of project teams in designing, developing and implementing networking technologies for the business.
- Participate in developing guidelines and procedures for LAN/WANs, network services, security services and in communicating those to the user community.
- Provide technical support and problem resolution on moderately complex issues in one or more of the following areas: networking, storage, architecture or desktop environment.
- Monitor and report to management on program status, identify issues that may impede attainment of goals, recommend and implement corrective measures.
Required Experience/Skills:
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining Cisco local and wide area networking infrastructure
- Provides recommendations on workflow and design enhancements to the infrastructure to improve reliability and performance, reduce cost, and anticipate Company growth and acquisitions
- Responsibilities will include Level 2 support and monitoring of data networks, including WAN, LAN, and Wireless on a Cisco network
- Routinely audit and document network diagrams and configuration information
- Work with business management to understand networking requirements and help in preparing report templates for scheduling and explanation
- Troubleshoot networking issues as needed on a tier 2 basis
- Support enterprise recommendations and follow the industry best practices for business continuity and high network availability
- Update and maintain comprehensive network drawings and documentation
Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Computer Science, Engineering, related field
- 5+ years of extensive hands-on networking and troubleshooting in a large, distributed corporate environment
- Thorough understanding of one or more operating environments (LYNX, UNIX, Windows NT, etc.)
- Knowledge of OSI layer 1/2/3 network designs accounting for spanning tree, Access/Distribution/Core Tiered architectures, Citrix, and Juniper.
- Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANS, Routing, QoS, eBGP and iBGP, EIRGP, OSPF routing protocols.
- Working knowledge of Sniffer analysis, WAN optimization appliances, network monitoring tools.
- Experience with configuration management, event, and log monitoring platforms.
- Working knowledge of VoIP, Qos, H323
- Knowledge and experience with Wireless Lan protocols including 802.11X
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel
- Cisco Certification(s) minimum of CCNA, CCNP would be a plus.
