DESCRIPTION
The Engineer will plan and conduct site surveys for installation of distributed antenna systems as well as create GSM/CDMA hardware designs to meet specific business requirements or individual needs. Coordinate logistics and technical aspects of assigned mobile phone system installations.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise cabling and hardware installations onboard cruise ships, including vendor staff, ship staff, riding crew, and rack build staff.
  • Design, plan, perform, and document site surveys.
  • Investigate customer trouble reports, troubleshoot using test equipment to analyze problems, and work with vendors and engineering staff on finding solutions to problems.
  • Maintain and optimize switch and network equipment to ensure quality customer service and minimize outages.
  • Manage equipment, logistics, cabling vendor, and engineering tasks pertaining to the project are smoothly coordinately for turning up of the system according to budget and schedule.
  • Install and test WMS GSM, CDMA, and Wi-Fi systems.
  • Write detailed report of site visits and project progress as needed.
  • Liaison between engineering teams for technical aspects of assigned mobile phone system installation.
  • Own all aspects of successful installation of the WMS GSM/CDMA system onboard a cruise ship from beginning to end.
  • Assist in the assembly, testing and Level 1 configuration of WMS Systems.
  • Plan and ensure timely shipment, loading and securing on board of needed electronic equipment.
  • Train and support cruise line staff on the operation of the WMS system.
  • Perform a variety of responsibilities to provide moderately complex support to engineering related to system performance, interconnection, transmission, equipment, and/or traffic analysis.
  • Work collaboratively with peers across departments, department managers, and customers to arrive at solutions.
  • Fine tune switch and network equipment at optimum performance to ensure quality customer service and minimize outages.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills in related job disciplines.
Qualifications:
  • Experience with Ericsson 2100 series radio experience preferred.
  • Technical writing and project management skills or at the minimum excellent documentation skills required.
  • Experience with Alvarion BSC and MSC is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SS7 and IP Networking is beneficial.
  • Network drawing and designing skills a plus.
  • Network troubleshooting skills required.
  • Excellent communication skills desired.
  • Must be able to work well with a team of engineers on medium to large projects.
  • Able to use test equipment such as spectrum analyzers to troubleshoot problems.
  • Adaptability to multicultural work situations.
  • Negotiate business and technical solutions in Real Time.
  • Must be able to work during night-time hours for planned maintenance and emergency call-outs and travel domestically or internationally to meet vessels during installation/commissioning or service visits.
  • Ability to travel to and between remote locations through various countries at short notice.
  • Requires standing, walking up and down stairs for an extensive period of time, lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 40 lbs.
