DESCRIPTION
The Network Services/Support consultant will monitor the operational performance of a cellular network and provide first level problem identification, troubleshooting, and resolution.

Responsibilities
  • Take the first steps in trouble resolution and will escalate problems to appropriate personnel using a trouble ticket system, document and produce reports following the worked shift.
  • Handle any calls to concerning cellular service onboard ships, and will periodically initiate calls to the ships communications officer or system manager to verify system performance.
  • Assist engineering and operations personnel in the development of operations and maintenance procedures for a cellular network.
  • Monitor network element alarms using various computer-based tools.
  • Identify alarm causes and take immediate initial action to resolve alarm conditions.
  • Identify service-affecting and non-service-affecting alarms.
  • Determine when problem escalation is appropriate and take immediate action as necessary.
  • Work with personnel to identify causes of satellite or connectivity interruptions.
  • Document all alarms with alarm condition, root cause found, and problem resolution procedure.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in electronics, math or computer science and/or equivalent job experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Unix/Linux.
  • Understanding of communications networks; telecommunications background a plus.
  • Must be able to communicate with clarity via telephone and email.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to contribute positively to team objectives; a team player.
  • Able to maintain a professional demeanor in a highly charged environment
  • Knowledge of Ericsson RBS, BSC and MSC.
  • UNIX navigation skills.
  • Cisco knowledge.
  • Must be able to work all three shifts: 6-3pm 2-11pm 10-7am.
  • Must have excellent IP network skills.
  • CCNA preferred.
  • Network Operation Center experience preferred.
