An engineer is required to undertake assessment of the scope of work involved in integrating a range of candidate ISTAR sensors and processing subsystems in a planned experimentation environment with a broad scope.

Experience is necessary in integrating systems at the levels of custom interfaces, communications, networks, Middleware and information standards.

The systems involved will include ISTAR sensors, modelled sensors, software for sensor processing & integrating sensor data and software for managing sensors and processing. The engineer will need to work closely with the members of the ISTAR Concepts and Solutions team at the clients offices to help formulate the scope of the future experimentation system allowing planning and scoping decisions, cognisant of the levels of effort and issues associated with integrating candidate subsystems.

The engineer will need to be able to proactively identify relevant people and sources of information to allow the identification of the integration issues, and work with MOD's prime contractor that is building the experimental system, and also with various supplier of capability to MOD. The engineer should be able to organise information in a way to identify the key issues, and present this information in a clear way to help decision makers identify the best options.

Essential Criteria

  • Security clearance -SC.
  • Experienced in integrating systems using custom interfaces - communications, networks, Middleware.
  • Experimentation and trials planning
  • Able to work with minmal supervision and in close association with the clients staff and their industry prime contractor
  • A track record of delivery

Desirable Criteria

  • Understanding of ISTAR DCPD process
  • Knowledge of a range of sensors
  • Knowledge of range of communications systems
