Fresh Medical Recruitment has a new opportunity for a Consultant in Paediatrics in Bahrain from ASAP ongoing. This requirement is for Short Term Locum.

Job Purpose
The Paediatrician uses a high level of specialised diagnostic and therapeutic skill to ensure the provision of high quality Paediatric care to children of Company employees and private patients.
Uses paediatric medical skills to help with provision of general practice paediatric care. May be called upon to assist with care of company employees in emergency situations.
Dimensions
No direct financial responsibilities but the nature & volume of work impacts and directly contributes to the annual budget.
Key Result Areas
a)Examine & treat paediatric patients to ensure a good medical outcome and high level of patient satisfaction.
b)Attend Caesarian Section and other difficult delivery situations and use high level skills in resuscitation and ongoing treatment of newborn babies.
c)Monitor growth and development of children to identify, treat and give advice to parents on issues of concern.
d)Treat patients in an efficient manner in order to maximise patient throughput during daytime clinic sessions.
e)Provide domiciliary care where necessary, including assessment and monitoring, in conjunction with general practitioners and other staff.
f)Maintain on a rostered basis provision of a 24hr acute paediatric emergency care.
g)Participate and provide leadership in various committees specialising in pertinent hospital activities, eg Pharmacy and Infection Control Committees.
h)Provide professional advice for clinical and related matters such the development of clinical policies and service planning.
i)Follow Hospital policies pertaining to handling of sharp objects in order to minimise industrial accidents such as needlestick injuries.

Job Context
Deals with employees from all levels within the Company and private patients from all strata of Bahrain society. Patients are seen by appointment during daytime clinical sessions, and emergencies tended to on an ad hoc basis, often involving unsocial hours at night, weekends and public holidays.

Communications and Working Relationships
The Paediatrician is expected to communicate effectively with patients, their families, other hospital staff & colleagues, and company personnel on a regular and personal basis, e.g.:
a)Directly with patients and their family, friends & relatives during the course of treatment.
b)Close working relationship with team members such as nurses and technicians comprising the team caring for the patient.
c)Direct communication with the Chief Medical Officer on administrative matters.
d)Direct communication with consultant colleagues relating to further specialty treatment and ongoing care of the patient

The Paediatrician is expected to play a vital role in professional matters such as:
a)Clinical audit and personal Continuing Professional Development.
b)The teaching of junior medical staff, nurses, and the continuing education of professional colleagues.
c)The supervision, training and professional development of multidisciplinary teams.
Framework Boundaries, Decision Making authority and responsibility
a)The Paediatrician has the highest level of responsibility in assessing and carrying out treatment of paediatric patients and will consult with other consultant colleagues on specific treatments and case management according to the circumstances of individual situations.
b)The Paediatrician exercises a high level of independent decision making in the clinical situation and works autonomously most of the time, having to adapt to situations as they arise.
c)The Paediatrician is guided by post graduate specialist medical training and experience rather than specific company or hospital policies and procedures.

Knowledge Skills and Experience
a)6-year University degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB or MBBS).
b)Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years post graduate training in all aspects of internal medicine.
c)Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in Paediatrics or equivalent.
d)APLS certificate an advantage.

Pay Rate for this locum is up to 80 per hour depending on experience.

Applicants must have:
* GMC registration
* Permission to work in the UK
* Relevant experience

Experience of working in the NHS would be advantageous. Assistance will be provided with regard to accommodation and travel arrangements.
