IT Project Manager

Description of Initiative:
 
Our client is currently undertaking an acquisition of Water and WasteWater assets in the southern United States.  As part of this initiative a number of vendor and internally hosted IT solutions are being undertaken to complete the acquisition.  In relation to this overall initiative, the project manager will be responsible to manage the scope of work as described below.

Scope of Work:
Vendor management to ensure an external provider delivers billing, customer care and mobile workforce management functionality. All aspects of vendor management will be required, including planning, workshop facilitation, issue resolution and escalation, etc.

Project Management of other American Water and client IT projects as assigned.

The Project Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating multiple teams to manage and implement the project(s) from initiation to final operational stage.
-  Charter, Plans, schedules, monitors and reports on deliverables and activities related to the project
-  Leads the project team(s) in determining customer requirements and translating requirements into requirements documents and technical designs.
-  Manage project costs, budgets, staffing requirements, project resources and project risk
-  Create and implement contingency plans to address risks and mitigation schedule revision, manpower adjustments, fund allocation and work requirements
-  Controls project requirements, scope and change management issues
-  Weekly and monthly status reporting. 
-  Chairs weekly status meetings and monthly
steering committee meetings. 
-  Manages team leads and coaches members of cross-functional teams to accomplish project deliverables, meets established schedules or resolve technical/operational issues.

Skill Set (Mandatory)
College/University education and 10 years IT Project Management work experience
Large project exposure
Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and multiple vendors
Proven success at managing and controlling the scope of projects through effective change control and scope management processes
Track record of managing projects within budget and schedule
Track record at effectively implementing and managing formal quality processes in projects
Track record at project organization planning and project staffing
Strong organizational skills
Excellent communication (verbal and written), presentation, training and leadership skills.
Works proactively and independently
Strong leadership capabilities
Applied knowledge of MS Office suite and MS Project

Skill Set (Preferred)
Strong preference for previous experience managing external vendor relationships.
Contract negotiation experience would be considered an asset.
Experience utilizing Oracle Projects and Sharepoint
PMI Certification (PMP) or PRINCE2 Practitioner
