C++ / LINUX Software Engineer - 6 months -£350 - £500 per day D.O.E. - URGENT!
My defence client has an urgent requirement for a contract Software Senior Engineer to join their Software Development Group, based in South Wales on a 6 month contract. You will be responsible for the technical design, implementation, integration, test and support of software applications for current development programmers'. The Software Senior Engineer will work with other members of the development group and be responsible for ensuring that work adheres to the development quality processes and is delivered in a timely manner. The initial role will be to support the development of the Versatile Service Access Point as part of a UOR.
Responsibilities
* Analyzing software subsystem requirements
* Tracing and fixing bugs in existing software
* Supporting product and integration test requirements and activities
* Identifying and documenting specification and interface changes
* Responsibility for code implementation of software subsystem elements
* Validating S/W design against requirements and assumptions
* Building and Maintaining the Linux Operating System
* Documenting the Linux Operating System Build Process
Education/Experience
Essential
* BS Degree in EE, CS, Physics or equivalent
* Strong background in Software Design, Code, Test, V&V using structured methodologies, processes and tools
* Able to work with minimum supervision and get up to speed quickly.
* Good understanding of the OSI-layered communications model
* Strong background in OO Design, UML and Patterns
* Knowledge of specification preparation and participation in design reviews
* Engineering experience in software development and integration environments
* Windows platform development experience
* Experience in build Linux distributions
* Low Level Linux platform development
* Experience in use of Linux debugging tools
* Solid C++ experience on both Windows and Linux
* Experience of developing multi-threaded applications
* Excellent English writing and speaking skills
* Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
* British National
* Design leadership skills, autonomous, problem-solver, and creative
