Director Professional Coding Support
Director, Professional Coding Support - This has the potential to go perm for the right person
Position would be located in Walnut Creek - CA

In this role, you will establish strategic direction and determine operational vision for professional fee coding while also managing the unit accountable for coding services not coded by providers and clearing charge review work queues which require the expertise of certified coders. You will establish and implement a professional coding infrastructure that will meet current and future regulatory changes that impact the professional fee coding processes. In addition, you will also develop, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of departmental policies and procedures that support revenue cycle, and organizational goals, timely, complete, and accurate professional fee coding, business objectives, and workflow standardization as well as direct the activities and provide strategic direction for the Edit Correction Unit (ECU).

Qualifications include:
At least eight years of directly related revenue cycle experience with analytically challenging projects
Ten years of professional fee coding experience or office management required
Five years of experience as a professional coding manager/coding director preferred
Three years of general management experience
RHIA or CCS-P certification
Direct operational experience
A bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, finance, accounting, or a related field; CPA or a master's degree is highly preferred
Previous experience managing professional fee coding in a large multi-specialty clinic, Academic Medical Organization Faculty Practice, or a multi-hospital system preferred
EPIC or electronic health record experience preferred
Knowledge in one or more of the following: accounting, finance, quantitative analysis, financial analysis, healthcare economics, information systems, organizational development, health care delivery systems, project management, or new business development
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations related to the health care industry
Excellent communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Excellent skills in complex analytic problem solving, strategic planning, program development, project management, change management, and group process
Proficiency with Microsoft office (ie, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
The ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment

Soft Skills:
Work well with others, be able to navigate complex situations, good problem solving skills
Previous experience with Labor Unions a plus.
They may need to travel to Oakland on occasion.
