Hello, our education client in East Bay is looking for a QA Tester for a 6 month contract. This is an immediate need.
Here is the job description:
Under the direction of the Quality Assurance Supervisor and working in conjunction with the Payroll/Personnel Services programming staff, the Quality Assurance Tester verifies modifications and enhancements to the Payroll/Personnel System (PPS), the Effort Reporting System (ERS), and other related administrative applications.
Specifically the QA tester develops test strategy documents (test scenarios and cases) and executes test scenarios to ensure that all requirements are met and that existing functionality is not negatively impacted.
The position is in the Payroll/Personnel Services maintenance team which is responsible for enhancement and maintenance of several administrative systems, including the Universitys Payroll/Personnel System, Effort Reporting System, and Title Code System.
The Payroll/Personnel System and Title Code System are primarily Mainframe systems (on COBOL, CICS, DB2 on z/OS environment) with limited but growing web interface components (Java on IBM WebSphere). The Effort Reporting System is a java-based web application.
Proposed Job Duties:
Analysis: Reviews and analyzes technical requirements and specifications written by programmers or business analysts.
Ensures that requirements are accurate, comprehensive, and meet established QA guidelines for testability.
Testing: Prepares comprehensive test plans.
Identifies test scenarios and creates test cases.
Executes test scripts to ensure that the requirements are met and that existing functionality is not negatively impacted.
Project Coordination
Coordinates with business analysts to resolve issues that are identified during the design and execution phases.
Coordinates user acceptance testing of system changes prior to deployment for system-wide release.
Proposed Job Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in computer science, information technology, or related field
- 5 years of experience providing analytical and/or QA support for a large scale payroll or human resource system
- Experience with application testing phases and methodologies.
- Demonstrated understanding of programming concepts in a Mainframe environment including DB2 database, COBOL, and CICS screens.
- Experience developing or testing in a web-based application environment. Familiarity with web technology and environments, including HTML, XML, JAVA, IBM WebSphere
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to draft clear concise specifications, documentation, and testing reports.
- Strong analytical skills as demonstrated by the ability to draw conclusions in a logical, systematic way.
- Self motivated and independent, able to work with a minimum of supervision and able to work well with stakeholders and project staff
- Ability to prioritize and multi task across numerous work streams
- Ability to collaborate with team and promote the exchange of information among technical collaborators and application users.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite tools.
- Interact on development and execution of test cases, monitoring of test environment, and reporting bugs
- Provide project status and define prioritization of projects and tasks.
