Role:
We are looking for a Senior Software Configuration Manager to define and support the software configuration management within Central Engineering.
The Senior Software Configuration Manager will be a subject-matter-expert responsible for developing the SCM strategic roadmap consisting of a common set of best practices, applications, scripts, processes, and documentation. The Senior SCM will drive each Engineering team to incorporate the SCM roadmap into their SDLC.

This is not a position that will be performing build and deployments.
It is a position that influences the organization in the SCM direction.
The ideal candidate is expected to be a SCM expert and work with many teams across the company to implement the SCM roadmap.
The Sr SCM will also own and support the build, code storage, and deployment applications.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
* Development of the software configuration roadmap for the organization.
* Develop SCM best practices.
* Application support for SCM applications.
* Work with operations and support teams to establish processes for data integrity, backups, disaster recovery, application management and capacity management.
* Develop and evangelize build and deployment best practices to development teams.
* Train and evangelize the use of best practices, common operations, and troubleshooting.
* Keep up to date with development technologies and tools, looking for opportunities to improve our development environment and processes.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
* Must have had prior responsibility for leading software configuration management in a large software product development organization including the development of best practices, processes, and documentation.
* Must also have prior experience working with large scale web applications and frameworks, ideally based on Java technology.
* Must have a deep understanding of the software configuration management industry including best practices, software, code management, build development, continuous integration, and deployments.
* Must have experience working across multiple teams to develop and manage a unified software configuration management solution.
* Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, and be able to work effectively with software engineering teams and operations staff.
* Must be able to define strategy and lead complex cross functional efforts to develop and deploy new tools & processes.
* Must have a strong attention to details and a high level of self-motivation.

SPECIFIC SKILLS REQUIRED
* BS/BA degree in Computer Science or other technical field, or equivalent.
* 5 or more years experience in designing, implementing, and supporting product development and release processes/tools
* Proficiency with tools development/deployment on the MS Windows platform required; Linux proficiency is desirable
* Knowledge of J2EE application deployment standards is highly desirable
* Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMWare
* Proficiency in use of Scripting and utility tools such as ANT, Perl, Shell, VBscript, etc...
* Familiarity with standard networking protocols such as HTTP, UDP, etc.
