Position: Senior Design Engineer
Rate: £25 per Hour
Location: South Wales

My client is a niche robotics and automation engineering company that provides manufacturing customers with novel automation solutions in the automotive, industrial and pharmaceutical industries. The company is now experiencing exceptional growth and immediately requires a high calibre Senior Automation Design Engineer - Mechanical who is suitably qualified and experienced in designing and building automated manufacturing processes. The Company has a unique reputation for designing and building complete process solutions to the highest standards of quality, providing customers with improved efficiency, reduced manpower and costs, and zero defects.

You will lead projects and be able to demonstrate a strong ability to conceptualize and create solutions for complex design requirements You will have a working knowledge of common machine shop techniques and thorough knowledge of drafting principles.

Skills required:
-The ability to design automated solutions and production processes from scratch
-Capable of designing tooling from sketches or verbal concepts
-Examine feasibility of using one or more machines to carry out sequential operations
-Produce working drawings, detail drawings and bills of materials for equipment, sub-assemblies or product assemblies, using AutoCAD and Solid Works
-Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, proper machining techniques, finishes, etc.
-Liaise with customers and in-house technical and engineering staff
-Liaise with vendors for technical information and specifications
-Organize documentation, including quotes, drawing registers, correspondence, requisitions, drawings, schedules, etc. on projects you are supervising
-Responsible for communicating time estimates and resource requirements on design tasks to the bid manager, design manager and project managers
-Review electrical requirements with respect to input and output devices with electrical designers
-Review machine operations and machine sequences with programmers
-Assist the fabricators, machinists, toolmaker and electricians in the debug, integration resolving problems and completion of systems
-Select appropriate purchase component for mechanical assemblies and create requisitions with appropriate delivery dates
-Examines project instructions and drawings to determine test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment and problems involved in designing, changing or re-arranging materials
-Supervise students, junior and intermediate Designers on various projects

You will be qualified to degree level in a related discipline and have experience in the one-off design of automated manufacturing processes. Ideally you will be from a blue chip manufacturing background or a high achiever, comfortable working in a blue chip client environment.
