Description
The Senior Developer candidate must be a strong application developer with extensive knowledge of financial information technology, including market data and related technologies. The candidate is an experienced professional with the willingness to interface with customers from time-to-time on a pre-sales and support basis. This candidate is a self-motivated technologist with a passion for innovation and the ability to contribute to the growth of the company.
While this client is based in New York, the candidate may have the opportunity to work anywhere in the Tri State area as long as he or she is willing to travel to NYC when required.
Requirements:
Skill and experience requirements are as follows:
- A minimum of 8 years of experience performing application development in the Financial Services Industry.
- A minimum of a BA in computer science or related discipline. Masters preferred.
- Ensure that the Financial Services development environment operates under the standards and methodologies established for the client overall.
- Domain experience in market data, feed handlers and data feeds.
- Must have experience with the technology of testing applications against high volumes of data. Hands on experience with feedhandler technology and products including high-throughput, low-latency data processing software.
- An understanding of how to build (code) test and maintain Feedhandlers.
- Experience working with Market Data providers such as Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters and IDC.
- Experience writing technical documentation such as white papers, statements of work (SOW), story notes, blogs and other application development related writing.
- Provide accurate updates and make recommendations on technology to management.
- Familiarity with agile software development practices.
- Client facing with the ability and willingness to perform product demonstrations.
- Dynamic language web experience (Ruby/Rails preferred but PHP a like discipline would be acceptable).
- Experience with compiled languages such as C/C++. Java is a plus.
- The candidate will at least need to have a passing knowledge of Javascript with a basic understanding of Prototype and jQuery.
