Sr. QA Engineer

We are currently looking for a Sr. QA Engineer. This is a long term contract opportunity. Our Pasadena ,CA based client is looking for a Sr. QA Engineer to work with the business analysts, developers and QA translating complex software specification business requirements into engineering actions and test scenarios for our Fixed Income Compliance, trading, settlement and accounting applications.

SPECIFIC TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Minimum of 5-8 years prior experience as a QA Engineer.
* Excellent analytical skills for reviewing requirements, designing effective test strategies, and identifying defects
* Strong problem solving skills
* Experience working in a dynamic development environment, gathering and translating business requirements into meaningful test scenarios and cases
* Extensive experience in manual testing
* Experience using Quality Center 9.2 for development and execution of test cases and for defect tracking
* Solid knowledge of QA best practices including: functional, regression, and integration testing
* Strong SQL skills for Back End oracle and Sybase validation
* Experience in Unix/Linux environments with Weblogic or JBoss
* Strong experience in documenting process flows and scenarios for functional testing
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
* Prior QA work experience in the financial industry with fixed income, equities, swaps, futures & options is strongly preferred
* Prior work experience in any Asset Management or Investment Banking firm
* Basic understanding of Trade Life Cycle preferably from BUY side.
* Basic understanding of Fixed Income and Derivatives trading
* Prior work experience in any leading market standard order management tool such as CharlesRiver/Line Data/Murex/Calypso etc.
* Prior work experience in trading strategies
* Basic understanding of Compliance rules and workflows in a trade life cycle is a plus
* Basic understanding of Market standard Benchmarks/Index is a plus
* Basic understanding of FIX 4.2 or similar messaging techniques is a plus

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):
* A 4-year degree in a quantitative discipline, Business, Computer Science, or Finance.
