This position is responsible for leading efforts on our middle-tier web publishing and syndication systems, including a proprietary template-based CMS and an XML-based workflow system. This development will be in support of SI.com editorial operations, B2B partnerships, sporting news coverage and digital portfolio growth. This position is charged with ensuring development meets Turner and industry standards and follows sanctioned internal guidelines and protocol. This position is partially client facing, so customer service and strong communication skills are a high demand for this role.

Qualifications:
5 years experience developing web sites using industry web application platforms such as PHP, JSP, ASP, C#, Ruby and/or similar technologies - Strong experience working with templating and Scripting languages for web application development, with firm grasp of clean coding principles, cache layers, HTTP interaction (Restful APIs), asynchronous client side communication (AJAX), browser interaction (DOM manipulation), web page performance (use of YSlow and related tools), SEO, web analytics (like Omniture and Google Analytics), scaling web applications and other core web principles.
- Fluency with common development practices such as usage of version control (CVS, SVN, etc), package deployment and unit testing.
- Knowledge of database structure (Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.)
- Experience working with XML and XSLT
- Must have strong skills in developing custom JavaScript and use of popular libraries
- A core set of Front End web skills
- Must have firm skills in Unix command line/Shell Scripting
- Candidates must take pride in their work and have good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong capacity to learn technologies and grow skills to meet new challenges
- Must be able to handle complex tasks given priorities and drive conversations with peers and stakeholders to accomplish assignments

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
- Experience with developing for large scale CMS web applications is preferred

DUTIES:
Responsibilities will include the following:
- Develop/maintain sports scoring/statistical products and CMS
- Lead scoping efforts for new work
- Create/maintain syndication profiles
- Ensure Turner and industry web development guidelines are practiced
- Research new web technologies for improving our digital portfolio
- Mentor new and junior developers
- Conducts analysis, definition, and scoping of efficient, cost effective application solutions.
- Research new technologies; provide ideas for technical or workflow/process improvements
- Provides on-call support as assigned. Notification via pager
- Performs related duties as assigned or requested

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
