Interim IT Auditor

Background
We are seeking two professional interim IT auditors to deliver audit assignments across our client base. These audits will be a mix of IT control environment, IT key control and IT security reviews, as well as assignments covering Information Assurance, Business Continuity and Project Management. There may also be some non-IT assignments covering general business risks and controls.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

You will work independently or within a team to successfully deliver audits and advisory reviews that meet audit objectives whilst managing client expectations Complete planning of the audit inclusive of discussion with clients to agree the scope and timing. Assessing and testing the design and operating effectiveness of IT controls (and where necessary business controls) Recommending practical and cost effective actions for improving the effectiveness of the risk management process and internal control environment. Drafting the audit report and agreeing it with the client. Keeping the client, Audit Manager and Programme Management Office updated on assignment progress. Managing the delivery of the assignment within budget and timescales as negotiated and agreed with the client. Audits will be subject to an internal quality assurance process. Working at the client's site (this may require some UK travel and overnight stays)

Outputs/Deliverables to be achieved
Output/Deliverables. Findings are supported by suitable evidence and documented in working papers. Working papers and audit reports need minimal amendment by the Audit Manager. Recommendations are practical and appropriately prioritised within audit reports. As a minimum you will meet a 95% utilisation rate (a maximum of 5% of your time is expected for non audit activity). Agreeing with the Audit Manager and client an assignment project plan setting out the audit's key milestones and delivery dates. Assignments are delivered in line with the assignment project plan, with less than 10% variance against the agreed budget. Ensure the audit methodology is followed

Skills/Experience Required
Detailed knowledge of risk management, control frameworks and internal audit practice. Recent experience of working in an IT assurance role (preferably internal audit) where you have had to provide assurance over the IT environment. A successful track record of delivering to agreed deadlines and budgets. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex technical issues for a non-technical audience. Evidence of a strong customer focus, including the ability to influence and negotiate with staff and management. Proven ability to think strategically, analyse data and information and develop appropriate, innovative and effective solutions Desirable Skills. Recent experience of working in a central government or public sector environment. Attainment of the Government Internal Audit Certificate (GIAC)

Formal Qualifications Required
* Attainment of the PIIA, MIIA, QiCA, CISA, CISSP or CISM qualifications

Minimum of one of the above qualifications are essential.
