Job Summary/Purpose
To optimise profitability and growth across the product portfolio through all Businesses & Channels, within the framework of the Divisional strategy, ensuring customers' current and future needs are met.

*Proactive identification of product improvements (profit, income, policy changes) and new development initiatives in line with overall strategy

Key Responsibilities
* To ensure business plans are delivered (profit) and optimize supporting KPIs
*To lead the development of product strategies and plans within the Commercial function and contribute to the overall development of divisional strategies including Business Banking, Commercial Banking
*To approve development and income strategies for new and existing business
*To ensure the function drives profit and product innovation and provides divisional focus for market developments
*Accountable for substantially increasing our Customer Insight and identification of market leading segmentation
*To develop, coach and drive managers to help them achieve their business plans.
*To manage the relationship with central functions and ensure they are aligned with business priorities.
*To manage the relationship with Partners Provide appropriate support via Product until completion of divestment
*To ensure product design and marketing transaction is in line with TCF
*Development of Propositions and point of innovation
*Delivery of the developing multi-channel strategy
*To ensure mutually beneficial relationships exist with other CBD units.
*To ensure that there is effective sharing of best practice and knowledge between the business managers and with other business areas within CBD.
*To monitor the performance of the portfolio and to assist the business managers and partners to identify and implement corrective actions or pursue opportunities.
*To reinforce the culture and core values to play a full role in wider senior Management activities
*Be aware of and comply on an ongoing basis with the rules and requirements of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and any other legal/regulatory/risk management frameworks
*Embed a culture of compliance and risk management
*Manage, motivate and develop the team to maximise the achievement of individuals and objectives, as appropriate
*Manage business plans/strategies, resources and/or budgets to ensure profitability, efficiency and effectiveness of the team/department/function
*Develop and transact multi brand marketing strategy ensure maximum return on investment
*Develop and transact a product and proposition portfolio strategy ensuring maximum profit achieved
*Creating and leading a world class customer analytical unit
*Optimising all channels ensuring best cost to serve and acquisition strategy
*Developing and implementing strategies to ensure back book customers have optimal life time value
*Develop a fully integrated external media strategy aligned to the business strategy
*Member of COO, BB and CB Boards

*Matrix oversight of CB/BB teams c.5000 via Board responsibilities

*Income target: £2billion
*Opex management: £28million - marketing budget of c17m and other areas (eg propositions investment pot)
*Genesis benefits case of c.150million
*Customers: 2million
Specialist Skills, Qualifications and Experience: Relevant experience for the role
*Educated to degree level or equivalent
*Ideally Insurance or other relevant post-graduate qualification
*Experience in econometrics
*Strong analytical capability
*Significant P&L exposure
*Experience of product development
*Experience of marketing
*Experience of managing a team
