Description
The purpose of this role is designing and building complex infrastructure solutions and the management of networks. This includes providing 2nd and 3rd level support, performing network administration, hardware and software maintenance, producing documentation, and modifying the configuration of the Standard Operating Environment (SOE).
The Infrastructure Engineer will contribute to key strategic intent by focusing on providing excellent service, assist in company's strategic projects and providing support to Business units to achieve their objectives and goals.
In broad accountability terms, the position is responsible for providing 2nd and 3rd Level ICT Support to internal staff.
About the role:
- Maintain, upgrade, and support the configuration of existing and new Business Applications on the SOE.
- Providing System and Network Administration of the ICT Infrastructure (including New User Creation, Exchange Mail Administration/Support, Virus Protection Administration (Client and Server) and Hardware and Software Support)
- Manage DR Environment in conjunction with rest of Infrastructure team Including XenApp Infrastructure and CAD Communications.
- Research and provide information on technology issues to the team.
- Monitor application performance and investigate failures/exceptions within the Standard Operating Environment (SOE).
- Provide Ad-Hoc support to end users.
- Provide Ad-Hoc reports to Management
- Research and development of new technologies.
- Systems Documentation & Integration.
- Design of server inter-connectivity.
- Develop group network diagrams and system build document.
- Ensure standards are met and high quality systems are delivered on a consistent basis.
- Manage Technical testing of the SOE resulting from additions to the Standard Operating Environment.
- Assist with non-Technical testing, where appropriate, in conjunction with the Business as required.
- Perform/Assist in Unit, Stress and Integration testing.
- Initiate discussion on technical issues or new technologies with the team.
- Present proposals and designs to the team.
- Update task/project progress to the Infrastructure Team Leader.
Key Technical Skills:
- 5+ year's experience in supporting 500+ workstations
- 3+ years' experience in supporting highly available mission critical Infrastructure in an enterprise environment
- 5+ years experience Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows , XP)
- 5+ years experience in supporting enterprise environment with an internal focus.
- 5+ years experience in supporting TCP/IP based networks.
- Good knowledge of LAN, WAN and TCP/IP.
- Excellent Time Management/Prioritisation Skills
- Well developed and proven communication skills
Desirable Skills:
- Tertiary degree in Computing Science
- Experience with Unix (preferably Red Hat Linux, QNX)
- Experience with Citrix XenApp software
- Experience with various tape backup software eg Commvault etc.
- Experience with Host Integration Server.
- Experience in management Storage Area Network.
- ITIL Experience
