One of the world's leading financial institutions is seeking an experienced Senior Payments Analyst/Business Analyst to work on a major PPI Programme. You will be an experienced Qualified Accountant with a strong background within financial services.

Job Purpose
This role is responsible for providing high quality analysis to assess the impact of PPI payments across the UK. This is an extremely high profile project, with visibility at Board Level and intense external scrutiny.
Work across multiple businesses and functions at a senior level to produce joined-up and consistent PPI output
Analyse detailed and complex data on payments performance process and produce insightful commentary and recommendations to the Finance Director
Own and drive remediation process for finance reconciliations for PPI across the Bank
Own rule sets & logic for finance reconciliations
Liaise & negotiate with multiple areas at a senior level, including Legal & Regulatory Compliance, Operations, Project Management, Analytics & Information, local Finance business teams, as a senior representative of the Finance team

Main Accountabilities
Accountable for improving the quality of financial reconciliation analytics sent to senior stakeholder groups (eg Exco, Steerco), working closely with the Analytics & Information team to source accurate & timely MI and present it to senior stakeholders as input to key programme decisions
Be a key player in the Consumer Affairs Finance team, influencing the strategic direction that the team takes
Accountable for identifying important differences between the three business areas for PPI and communicating these in a consistent way at programme level and to the senior leadership team
Thinking creatively, deliver proactive insight and provide recommendations for improvement on reconciliation performance at business (Finance Director and Programme Senior Leadership team/ExCo), cohort and customer levels
Identify and deploy new and innovative ways of working to improve the reconciliation process and efficiency of the Payments team
Work with the Reporting Manager to develop & build on comprehensive reporting packs for distribution to senior business stakeholders, and Consumer Affairs senior leadership team
Accountable for ensuring that financial reconciliation is a key tool employed in decision making processes by senior leadership team
Analyse options and decisions proposed by the project and provide financial impact assessments to the Finance Director, Consumer Affairs and to the senior leadership team
Become an influential player across workstreams & at project level
Deputise for Finance Director as required
Work closely with business to understand operational process regarding approach to customer complaint handling
Interpret policy/process & accurately reflect in the financial reconciliation rule sets (to be owned by this team)
Liaise closely with A&I Reconciliation builders to ensure build & output is in line with rule set including detailed testing of results
Engage with key finance contacts to understand the basis of financial reporting
Build & own a robust financial reconciliation process and deliver results to key stakeholders
Liaise and negotiate with auditors (internal & external) via Control & Governance colleagues on financial reconciliation work

Essential - Qualified Accountant/Part Qualified
Preferred - business analytics subject matter expert
