Senior Human Factors / HCI Engineer - South West - To £500 pday D.O.E.(SC Cleared)
My Defence client is engaged in a wide range of engineering and integration programmes, providing highly specialised skills and knowledge, they currently have an urgent requirement for a Senior Human Factors/ Human Computer Interaction Engineer to work with their Software Development team experienced in designing GUI for embedded cockpit systems and specifying System /User interaction and behaviour. Experience of DOORS, VAPS.
The role will place significant demands on your HF, HCI and usability knowledge, organisational skills and experience. The role will require close liaison and co-operation with the software teams, systems engineering and integration subject matter experts along with platform & domain expertise residing in the wider businesses.
Main Responsibilities
* Co-ordinates HF activities between the Software HCI team and HF team.
* To develop HCI requirements and Design Specification.
* To Support and contribute to Software Human Engineering evaluation and analysis reports.
* Promote Human Factors and Human Centred Design activities throughout the business.
* Provide Human Factors expertise to Systems and Software Engineering.
* Support the Development of plans for monitoring and reporting HCI development progress.
Experience
(Essential)
1. Degree qualified in a relevant discipline. An MSc in Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Usability or Ergonomics would be advantageous.
2. Proven experience working with embedded HCI development programmes and defining user interaction through multiple input devices and Graphical User Interfaces.
3. Proven experience with HCI development and specification generation.
4. Proven experience in working with sub-contractors through the integration, test and acceptance phases.
5. Hold or be capable of holding security clearance up to the level of SECRET.
(Desirable)
1. Significant experience in the defence industry in a domain relevant to Human Factors (experience with moving platforms or AFV's favourable).
2. Proven experience of systems engineering lifecycle.
3. Experience in software rapid prototyping tools (VAPS and MS Visio experience is highly desirable).
4. Proven requirements development expertise and experience using DOORS.
5. Understanding of Human Centred Design processes and techniques.
6. Appreciation of all Defence Lines of Development.
