Duration of Assignment: 6 months (possible 6 month extension)

DESCRIPTION:

Our client requires the services of a Web Information Architect, to provide deliverables including, but not limited to, the following:

  • Define Usability and Style guidelines;
  • Produce interactive, high-fidelity prototypes to illustrate functionality of the new system;
  • Create Design Templates;
  • Define Information Architecture and Navigation design;
  • Produce User Interface Design Specification document.

Assignment Duties:

  • Assist in all aspects of the User-Centric Design process for an information-rich Transactional/Enterprise Corporate Application;
  • Consult business process owners and utilize industry best practices knowledge to produce usability and style guidelines, templates and user interface design specification for the system;
  • Perform other design work as needed; (ie designing a project website, newsletters)
  • Produce iterative and/or throw-away rapid-prototypes and also high-fidelity interactive prototypes utilizing prototyping tools;
  • Passionate about the end-user experience, new technologies and work on challenging design problems and propose solutions;
  • Must be able to work with development teams to develop questions for usability studies & reviews during the design phase;
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal to gather information from user communities to gain intimate understanding of how people access and understand information;
  • Write reports, provide recommendations, provide overall user-interface design expertise, presentations;

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post Secondary degree in behavioural science, human-computer interaction, computer science or equivalent;
  • 8 years of usability experience, including experience in Web UX, User-centered design, User Experience design;
  • Expert in design principles, with advanced knowledge of how different users interact with web-based business applications;
  • Expert in facilitation techniques, ability to lead JAD sessions with business users;
  • Must be able to prototype and create designs of web pages using design tools, analyze data, build detailed prototypes, usability testing and cognitive analysis;
  • Government experience in addressing web design needs would be considered an asset;
  • Ability to explain end user through development of personas and scenarios or use cases that establish how interaction of user and information resources is likely to occur;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in creating web sites and web content which conform to usability standards such as W3C, WCAG 2.0, A/AA/AAA;
  • Strong artistic and graphic design skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.

Technical Capabilities:

  • Significant experience with prototyping tools (eg Justinmind, Axure, iRise or equivalent);
  • Experience with web technologies, such as HTML 4 & HTML 5, CSS, XML, JavaScript, AJAX & Flash;
  • Experience with Dreamweaver and Adobe Photoshop or similar tools.
