Our client is a leading global IT outsourcer. They currently have an immediate requirement for an experienced Release Manager to work onsite with one of their major clients, a global financial company. Based in the CBD the role is initially for a 6 month period but due to the amount of work being scheduled for the new year, there is a strong likelihood that you will be offered an extension.

This role is the gatekeeper to the production systems and applications and is responsible for all the deployment and packaging of software changes in the production system. This role works with developers, managers required in production code release and documentation of release process and standards. This position will champion the implementation of quality assurance and deployment management.

The main responsibilities of the role are;
  • Manage the release process end-to-end, from the planning of release content through to actual release deployment to production. Plans the deployment of software releases of products and the in-house applications
  • Control the releases, defined as the combination of versions of all software, in-house and purchased, which have passed the testing series and are certified as working correctly together
  • Plan and support deployments across multiple environments
  • Provide input to the Quality Assurance function when planning the testing process; and assist with the planning and support of user acceptance testing
  • Work with the end users, and internal cross teams to prioritise and scope scheduled releases with completion dates for each phase. Monitor progress of phases by employing appropriate metrics and management reporting. Facilitate all release meetings
To be considered for this role you must have;
  • Bachelor degree in computer science
  • Working knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Knowledge of software process management and improvement techniques
  • Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies
  • The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
