  • Manage and allocate storage as needed to meet customer needs.
  • Monitor resource utilization to identify potential issues and address them before they impact production systems.
  • Install, configure and upgrade storage and tape subsystems.
  • Troubleshoot all storage related issues. Install, manage and monitor utilities used to maintain the storage environment.
  • Administer and monitor Hitachi USP/V hardware and partitioning of resources.
  • Administer SMS (System Managed Storage) groups for I/O performance and storage availability.
  • Maintain and support the HSM (Hierarchical Storage Management) environment. Create and maintain ABARS (Aggregate Backup and Recovery System) aggregates and ARECOVERY PROCs.
  • Support Business Disaster Recovery processes, including testing, documentation and configuration of the DASD and tape environments.

Skills needed

  • BS or BA degree in computer science, business administration highly desired, related work experience can be substituted for degree .
  • 6 - 10+ years experience as a z/OS Storage Administrator using DFSMS and DFHSM.
  • 5 -8+ years experience writing and maintaining ACS routines.
  • 5 -8+ years experience with IBM RMM or equivalent tape management software.
  • Experience with software virtual tape.
  • TREX experience or other catalog management tool.
  • Experience in managing HFS/ZFS file structures.
  • Experience in converting from HFS to ZFS a plus.
  • Ability to create/maintain periodic storage utilitzation reports.
  • A basic knowledge of z/OS installation, configuration and administration.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to deal with software vendors
  • A strong understanding of all IBM utilities.
  • Experience with hardware configuration, Enterprise Storage Subsystems, tape libraries and LPAR management.
  • A desire to work collaboratively in a team environment and the ability to assist, train and develop fellow support staff members as appropriate.
  • Experience with disaster recovery procedures and offsite exercises.
  • Experience with optical a plus.
  • Experience with encryption technologies a plus.
