DESCRIPTION:
Our client requires the services of a Web Information Architect, to provide deliverables including, but not limited to, the following:
- Monthly status reports on project activities
- Documentation of business, functional, technical and non-functional requirements
- Use Cases for web processes
- Documentation of audience definition list
- Documentation of Services List
- Production of "to-be" site map
- Documentation of site content in alignment with the "to-be" site map
- Production of navigation design and labelling
- Production of wireframe designs of the new site
- Project plan updates
Assignment Duties:
- Clarifies the mission and vision for the site, determines what content and functionality the site will contain. Must understand and convey the 'big' picture of a web site.
- Collaborates closely with the Web Competency Centre to ensure the Web re:Brand project progresses in alignment with overall corporate web approach.
- Specifies how users will find information in the site by defining its organization, navigation, labelling and searching.
- Maps out how the site will accommodate change and growth over time.
- Lays groundwork for how content is organized on a site regardless of where it resides
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated extensive Information Architecture Analysis experience, user interface design, and visual design with large web site focus.
- Experience collecting, analysing and documenting business, functional, non-functional and technical requirements of web projects.
- Experience defining workflows and use cases for web projects.
- Experience in formal and informal usability testing, user research and heuristic analysis.
- Well developed interpersonal skills: proved ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels; exceptional technical, verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated ability to deal effectively with senior management and subject matter experts.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, listening and interacting skills.
- Ability to conceptualize the abstract concept and create the concrete presentation to explain it to stakeholders.
- Completed post secondary education in disciplines related to the job function; for example, Library Science, Information Management, Communications, human-computer interaction, Interactive Arts or Computer Science or the approved equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Technical Capabilities:
- Advanced working knowledge of Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language (DHTML), Extensible Markup Language (XML), JavaScript, graphics formats, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), popular Web plug-ins, website authoring and management tools, including Web Content Management and related information repository and database environments.
- A solid understanding of the capabilities of Web browsers across multiple platforms, navigational issues and the constraints involved in designing for online media.
- Knowledge of web design principles, navigation, usability and accessibility issues.
- Knowledge of AODA (Accessibility) standards associated with web site development.
